Dr. Sam Hanes

Dr. Sam Hanes DVM is a graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. A native of Charlotte, he started working in New Bern, NC before moving back to Charlotte. He has been practicing in Charlotte since 1993 and opened Davis Lake Animal Hospital in the Fall of 1996 as a general practice clinic. His wife Marilyn also works at the hospital. Together, they have 3 daughters and a grandson as well as 5 cats, 1 dog, 2 snakes and 1 horse.

Marilyn Hanes is the wife of Dr. Sam and was a full time registered nurse before starting work at Davis Lake Animal Hospital. She is the practice manager and also assists Dr. Sam.

Terry Peterson has been working as a veterinary assistant in Charlotte for 22 years and has been with Dr. Sam since the opening of Davis Lake Animal Hospital in 1996. She has a husband and daughter as well as 4 dogs, 1 horse, and 2 cats.
